We are a professional association, established to promote the development of health in the UK, in order to achieve the health, economic and other benefits that these activities make possible.

We provide a forum for professionals in hospitals and other institutions, companies and individuals to share information, ideas and expertise in this important and exciting field.

Benefits of membership

UK eHealth Association has been formed to represent all those corporations and individuals interested in the development of eHealth in the United Kingdom. A number of Royal Colleges and other official bodies gave their written support to enable it to be formed as a non-profit making company limited by guarantee and governed by a Board of Trustees. The growing importance of eHealth both within the NHS and the private sector has been stressed by all concerned in the delivery of healthcare – at government level, by the WHO and the EU. The development of eHealth is one of the principles behind the Government, 'The New NHS – Modern and Dependable', 'Information for Health', and similar documents in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Association aims to become the official national body promoting eHealth, which it will implement by: Promoting eHealth research and education Promoting the development of eHealth policy and standards, encouraging the adoption of uniform standards and practice Ensuring the recognition by the authorities of the need to protect the intellectual property rights developed in the industry Interacting with eHealth associations in other countries.

To achieve its aim it will:

Provide a forum for its members to collaborate. Host an annual conference and provide facilities for the sharing of research, development and education Provide a comprehensive website whereby information on eHealth can be disseminated.All members will have their own page(s) on the site, which will be interactive and linked to other eHealth resources.

It is intended to encourage membership from all participants in the development of eHealth, including specifically:

The medical and other caring professions Companies supplying goods and services related to the use of eHealth NHS Trusts and hospitals, both in the public and private sector.  Official bodies interested in the delivery of healthcare Private individuals.
