March 2001
INTRODUCTION
I am very pleased and honoured to be able to announce that as of 13th March
2001 the Board of Trusties appointed me as the new CEO.
Many of you were able to meet me at the members meeting in Manchester
on the 13th March, although I had little to add to the proceedings only having
been in post for one hour! For those of you unable to attend this meeting,
let me provide a little background:
I spent many years in BT Health, developing product / solution
sets for the UK Health Market. This inevitably meant researching and building
relationships with many telemedicine suppliers throughout the world. About
this time last year, I left BT to concentrate on my academic studies (MBA)
and set up a consulting company, which assists telemedicine companies in bringing
their innovative solutions to market.
The window of opportunity for the implementation of telemedicine
within the UK has arrived and I am very excited at having the opportunity
to support and promote this activity through the UKTA. My objective is to
grow the UKTA both in size and credibility in all aspects of telemedicine,
making it the first choice for anyone interested in its development.
I very much believe that the UKTA is your organisation and although
I have ideas on how to take it into the 21st century, your ideas and contributions
will always be welcome.
